Playing in invitational tournaments across the UK and the rest of Europe Wooden Spoon Rugby enhances the profile of Wooden Spoon across the worldwide rugby fraternity whilst also raising funds to ensure Spoon can continue to have a positive impact on the lives of disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Mens team were founded after the success of the Wooden Spoon Blues, an invitational side that were originally called the Varsity Blues before joining Wooden Spoon in 2007. The Mens team compete across the UK and continental Europe and won the invitational Dubai 7s in 2010. Comprised mainly of rising Premiership academy players the Mens team plays an important role not only on the field of play but off it as well, raising funds at tournaments and allowing Wooden Spoon to maintain a healthy relationship with the top rugby clubs across the British Isles by allowing clubs to help develop their most promising youngsters. England 7s star Danny Bibby is the latest player off the Wooden Spoon development conveyor belt having played for Wooden Spoon in 2010 and 2011.

The Wooden Spoon Womens team are a veritable who's who of Womens rugby superstars. With the vast majority of our Womens players already seasoned Internationals and with an increasing number of future International prospects joining the ranks the Wooden Spoon Womens team is a powerhouse on the 7s circuit. In 2011 the Womens team beat England on three seperate occassions and continue to go from strength to strength. However, like the Mens team they also actively support Wooden Spoon off the pitch with several players fundraising for Wooden Spoon throughout the year.

The Wooden Spoon Legends developed from the success of the 'one-off' invitational side the Wooden Spoon Veterans. Predominantly they Legends play 10s rugby as a means of representing Wooden Spoon across a larger market and of course to ensure we look after our Old Boys aching knees. The Legends have toured across the British Isles, continental Europe and of course Dubai.
