The end of 2012 brought with it the end of the first year of Spoon's commitment to the Shropshire Rebels Tag Rugby Club based at the Telford Hornets RFC. Shropshire Rebels, was formed some 5 years ago and provides Tag Rugby coaching for children with special needs and learning difficulties from across Shropshire.

In September Wooden Spoon Shropshire were once again beneficiaries of the annual Telford Fun day.

Housman's, a winebar and restaurant in Church Stretton has long been a supporter of Wooden Spoon and Nicky Gouldbourne, manageress, organised a fashion show, jointly in aid of Wooden Spoon and Breast Cancer.

Wooden Spoon was adopted by York House at Wrekin College as its charity of the year. As a direct result, three members took part in an RFU Tag Coaching qualification course at Telford Hornets Rugby Club.

A chartered surveyor's annual charity gala raised hundreds of pounds to help disadvantaged children across the West Midlands. Nock Deighton's "Beaujolais" event in Shrewsbury saw £625 donated to Wooden Spoon, a charity that partners with the Rugby Union community across the UK and Ireland to help youngsters facing social, physical or mental disadvantages.

Former England and British Lion Tim Stimpson visited York House of Wrekin College to thank the students for choosing Wooden Spoon as their beneficiary charity for the rest of the school year.

The camp provides disadvantaged and disabled children from Shropshire and the West Midlands the opportunity to savour country life without television, computers etc., and to revert to outdoor activities and games.
Accommodation is proved in log cabins, and Spoon's project was to provide a concrete pathway to enable disabled and wheelchair users to have full use of the site and its facilities.
