Learn more about the major Challenge events Wooden Spoon has organised for the coming season
The comparison is slightly unfair. In 1982 Bill was imparting some words of wisdom to his England colleagues when Steve Smith, the scrum half on the day, interrupted to say, "Hey Bill, there's a bird just run on with your bum on her chest." In subsequent years Bill would go on to say that "the lads" reckoned his bum was equal to one Erica. Well now we will be able to judge. Bill will be on our televisions, on his hands and knees, with his bum in the air, scrabbling through his attic to raise money through "Cash in the Celebrity Attic" for his chosen charity, Wooden Spoon.
Bill Beaumont had a unique variety of collectibles hiding away in his attic. The less precious items ranged from English mugs, Pewter Jugs, a Miners lamp and an old kettle all valued between £30-£60. However there were a few unforgettable possessions collected throughout his rugby career which were found in his house - a signed England rugby jersey and a Golden Boot (as seen above), which was awarded to him whilst playing for England in the late 70's. Bill stated: "The day was full of surprises, having the Cash in the Attic team at my house peeking through my old belongings bought up a lot of memories. I am delighted to be apart of this show and overwhelmed at the £2,000 we have raised for the children's charity, Wooden Spoon". Part of the show was filmed at one of Sale Sharks Try Rugby SCR visits, supported by Wooden Spoon, to a school in an area of disadvantage.
