With 6,500 pre-sold tickets, the event was sold-out as far as the pre-planned sales limit was concerned. At £24 per adult (£14 children), this was a guaranteed money earner, providing the weather permitted the event to take place. On the day, so many people turned up without prior booking, that the gate numbers were relaxed and an estimated 9,500 people attended. They sat in their camping chairs, or on ground covers, and listened noisily to - Billy Ocean, Toya, Boney M, Nick Heyward, Go West, Heaven 17, China Crisis, Modern Romance, and others.

The children were kept entertained by a free circus, fairground rides, and various activity centres. There was only one arrest for drunkenness, and the day was a great success. Spoon owe a big vote of thanks to Michael Clark (Spoon member and local event coordinator) and Nick Billinghurst (the impressario of the days activities).
Spoon committee members, ably supported by wives and friends, manned a Spoon marquee for the full 12 hour stint of 10 am till 10 pm, selling wrist-bands by day and glow sticks, light sabres, flashing headbands etc throughout dusk and darkness hours. In total this raised a further £1200.
Clearly, the net profits will not be known for a few weeks, as invoices and sponsorship income is accounted for, but we are anticipating that our 50% charity share will produce in excess of £12,000 for the Chilterns region of Wooden Spoon.
