On Friday 7th June, 23 brave cyclists began a gruelling 760mile challenge to raise money for Wooden Spoon, the Children's Charity of Rugby.

While many of you enjoyed a day in the garden or a walk in the park on sunny Sunday 21st April, Wooden Spoon supporters gathered in London to cheer on Spoon's 15 runners who all completed the 26 mile 385 yard course of the 33rd London Marathon.

The prospect of completing 4 mountains in 48 hours is indeed a daunting one! The beginning of our adventure started at 4am (silly o'clock!) when we met our cab driver. We then endured a speedy drive to Luton airport and caught our 7am flight to Glasgow- and upon arrival at the airport we were met by our legendary driver Charles and the one and only Phil Vickery, the Raging Bull himself!

Thanks to his meteoric rise to become England Coach, the fact that Stuart Lancaster, a staunch Spoon supporter of Spoon, competing in last years Ford Ranger Great Lakeland Challenge has gone relatively unnoticed. It wasn't until flicking through last years photo's in preparation for Phil Vickery competing in it this year, that we noticed Stuart slogging around the course with his team.
