Chilterns Region of Wooden Spoon have invested for the first time in a charity called PACT (Parents and Children Together, which manages adoption and fostering for more problematic children throughout Southern England. Unlike Social Services input to the adoption process which tends to be short term, PACT recognises the traumas and relationship problems that adoption generally causes, throughout the child's early and teenage years.

Surrey Spoon was proud and delighted to have supported Portesbery School by funding their outdoor gym equipment area. Portesbery is a Special Needs School with some 65 pupils and the gym was opened by our Honorary President, John Inverdale, accompanied by the Chair of the School Governors, Susan Carpenter, the head teacher, Matthew Sartin, two of Wooden Spoon's Trustees, Roger Cooke and Keith Lambert, and David Jackson with other Surrey Spoon members.

On 6th December 2012 supporters of Sussex Wooden Spoon, gathered with parents to see Justin Bishop, ex London Irish and Ireland rugby international and now coach at East Grinstead RFC, open the region's latest £16,000 project at the Step by Step school in Sharpthorne.

It is always a privilege to attend openings of projects funded by Wooden Spoon. All of them are a testimony to the rugby world's caring nature. That caring nature is seen in the staff and supporters of the organisations we support too, so when Scope asked us to contribute £20,000 to facilitate the building of the Wooden Spoon Suite at Lewis Martin Court, it was a double bonus.

On 11th October Jason Leonard OBE (Harlequins RFC, England and British and Irish Lions) attended and assisted with the official opening of The Wooden Spoon Outdoor Gym at Glenwood School, Benfleet. Jason is also Honorary President of Eastern Counties region of the Wooden Spoon Charity.
