The Hollywood scene was evident as guests arrived and were escorted down the red carpet accompanied by the flash bulbs of the Paparazzi (www.eventpaparazzi.co.ukwhere they are available for download or purchase) to their Champagne reception. Marilyn Monroe was on hand to greet guests with her charm and sexual allure!

The evening's entertainment gathered momentum as soon as guests entered into the stunning Hollywood Ballroom with live gold Oscars flanking the entrance. The room was surrounded by further life size gold Oscars, images of elegant and urbane movie icons as well as the famous Hollywood sign taking pride of place on the stage. Our Hollywood Big Band opened the ceremonies with the 20th Century Fox Fanfare, followed by spectacular pyrotechnics and beautiful Hollywood dancing girls.
The talented Alistair McGowan, our celebrity MC and host welcomed guests and introduced Suzie Haworth, Senior Corporate Development Director to the stage, who spoke about the Charity's work over the previous year and thanked loyal Ambassadors, Corporate Partners, Regional Committees and Members for their generous support as well as the sponsors and prize donors.
'Suzie Haworth gave an absolutely heart wrenching plea on behalf of the charity, its motives and achievements and emphasised how much there is still to do.' Ambassador Chris Mason.

A programme of non-stop entertainment during the course of the evening included a visually dramatic car reveal for our first prize in the raffle, as well as Alistair McGowan entertaining guests with his solo performance..................
"The Wooden Spoon Ball lived up to all expectations with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood!!
A brilliant theme was supported by a superb menu of food and wine, first class entertainment (including Marilyn Monroe -well I was convinced!!!)- magnificently hosted by Alistair McGowan, who entertained us with his "other selves" as well as proving to be a great auctioneer!!'Chris Mason - First Drinks

Our second band for the evening, 'High Time', kept everyone dancing well into the early hours with a rendition of classic party tunes. The casino, sponsored by Talbot Underwriting, was popular with guests who wished to have a flutter to raise money for disadvantaged children.
Rupert Atkin from Talbot Underwriting said 'Wooden Spoon's Hollywood Glamour Ball held at the Park Plaza Hotel Westminster was a triumph for the Wooden Spoon Ball Committee, led by Suzie Haworth Senior Corporate Development Director. 830 guests attended this magnificent event, who in addition to dining and drinking well, enjoyed the array of glittering Hollywood entertainment as well as dancing the night away to the sounds of the Hollywood Big Band and High Time party band'.

'The evening was a wonderful success and much fun was had by all in attendance and once again Wooden Spoon's Annual Ball has proved to be one of the best of its kind; an outstanding and memorable evening with good company, excellent entertainment and most importantly raising much needed funds for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK and Ireland'. Spoon Ambassador.
Ambassador Nick Root from Taylor Root said "It's great to be able to make a serious contribution to such a wonderful charity and have fun at the same time!"
Well done for another marvellous evening at the Spoon Ball. We all had a great time on our table and are looking forward to next year! Ambassador Martin Mills
