The first Spoon runner, Vince Lowder, crossed the line in an impressive three hours, 32 minutes and 23 seconds and was followed in quick succession by many more. But for the majority, it wasn't the time taken, more the achievement in completing the course and raising money for Wooden Spoon projects across the UK.

After the race, the runners made full use of the complimentary rooms at the InterContinental on Park Lane, before finding the energy to join their family and friends at the post race buffet at the hotel. More than 60 guests joined the celebration, which was hosted by Bob Harris from Wooden Spoon.

To date our 20 runners have raised, £33,500.00, but we are expected to reach a target of £50,000. - A huge thank you to all our runners and their sponsors.



The 2012 event takes place on Sunday, 22^nd April. If you are inspired to join the throngs pacing the streets of the capital, there are two easy steps to register your interest. First complete the registration form at www.spoonchallenges.com so we can make sure we have your details. Then sign up for the public ballot at http://www.virginlondonmarathon.com/ which opens on April 26^th. We ask everyone to do this, so that we can maximise the number of runners taking part. The public ballot will be announced in October, after which we will enter all runners who have not secured a place and are still interested into the Spoon ballot.
