In Memoriam

Marj Bushby

Carol Harris with husband Bob at the Annual Spoon Ball

We were extremely saddened to learn of the death of Marj Bushby, a great supporter of Spoon who, for many years, generously sponsored the Ladies Gift at the Annual Ball.

She attended the Ball year after year with a table of family and friends and could always be seen having a great time even though, on her last visit Marj was confined to a wheelchair.

She had real spirit. Marj and her husband Bob also supported the Chilterns Region and enjoyed, for many years, the Christmas Carol Cruise. Her great interest in life was her garden and for years she opened it to the public in aid of charity and took great pride in showing visitors every corner. She had even created a bluebell wood.

We send our sincere sympathy to husband Bob and the family. Marj will be remembered as a lady who knew how to enjoy life and she will be greatly missed.

It is with great sadness to report the passing of Carol Harris, devoted wife of popular Wooden Spoon Rugby Manager, Bob.

Carol was a great supporter of Spoon, enthusiastically assisting Bob and the Wales Region for over ten years attending many events, in particular the Spoon Six Nations Clubhouse.

After a brave fight, she succumbed to her illness on February 23rd 2010 and the esteem in which she was held was aptly illustrated by the standing-room-only attendance at the funeral service held at the largest church in the Rhondda, St. Peter’s in Pentre. The world-famous Treorchy Male Choir led the singing of the chosen hymns.

Afterwards, her legion of friends celebrated Carol’s life at the Treorchy Rugby Club where senior Spooners Peter Scott, Tony Richards and their wives were joined by the Wales Regional Committee in paying their respects to a beautiful lady.
