Fundraising

No ALT tag specified

To reach our financial goals we ask our members to come up with innovative ideas to challenge friends, family and colleagues to encourage everyone to put their hands in their pockets and support Wooden Spoon. If every current member were to raise £5 each this year then we would have an extra £55,000 to allocate to local projects supporting disadvantaged children and young people.

Getting started - A few tips to help you on your way!

  • Gather up everyone you know and form fundraising teams. Allocate ideas to each team.
  • Plan your fundraising - monitor budgets, hidden costs, venues, dates, resources and time scale. Target your fundraising - think carefully about who you could approach for sponsorship and help.
  • 'Give as you earn' - Ask your employer if they will adopt Wooden Spoon as their charity of choice. Many companies will even match your donations as part of their social responsibility plan. In addition, you can drum up support with like-minded and charitable colleagues.
  • Increase the value of your pledges with a little help from the tax man. Selecting gift aid effectively increases the benefit of your donation and will allow charities to reclaim 25p on every £1, so don't forget to tick that box!
  • Online resources can be really helpful with fundraising. Sites such as everyclick.com, virginmoney.com and justgiving.com provide fundraising and donation pages. You are able to build your own online page, blog your process through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter and raise money from across the globe.
