The traditional nine lessons were read by a panoply of media and theatre celebrities including The Rt Hon Michael Portillo, Miranda Richardson, Ian Hislop, Sophie Raworth, Ben Mansfield, Imogen Stubbs, John Sessions and Laura Carmichael. Musical accompaniment to the carols and anthems was provided by The Band of The Irish Guards and The Choir of Westminster Cathedral.
Over 500 people attended the service which was followed by a champagne and canapé reception and charity auction at Christie's showroom in St James.
The funds donated to Spoon CityClub will be used to complete the building and site amenities at The Oasis Centre in Lambeth, which will provide a haven of play, adventure and educational opportunities for children living in one of the capital's most deprived areas.
