Trustee (Member Audit Committee and Project Approvals Committee)

Richard was born in Holmfirth in the West Riding of Yorkshire. A member of the Yorkshire region committee of Wooden Spoon for over 10 years and Chairman since 2004, Richard has also twice competed in the Four Peaks Challenge event. After graduating in Economics from the University of Manchester, Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Post qualification experience with KPMG in London and the Middle East was followed by a move into industry in 1987.

Married with two sons, Richard has been Chief Executive of a motor retail business since 1993. Past experience in the voluntary sector includes 10 years as a trustee of Yorkshire Youth & Music. An enthusiastic cyclist, fell-walker and occasional oarsman after a knee injury curtailed his rugby playing days with Cleckheaton, Richard remains involved with club rugby supporting his two sons at York.
