This is the second time Liam has made the effort to support Spoon for which he is about to receive an annual and a Spoon ball signed by one of his favourite players Jason Leonard. Honorary president David Duckham has made a charitable donation to his region after fundraising undertaken at his speaking engagements. This will be put towards the new playground at Reynalds Cross Special School in Olton, Birmingham. After an initial approach from Andy Luckett of Shirley Lions to get involved, work will begin during the summer break. The Lions and Spoon are working well together in the region supporting a funrun and a quiz event that has resulted in a donation of £1208 to the charity.

As for newly approved projects, Jane Lane Special School in Walsall turned to Spoon when it lost one of its funding streams to become a special status school. With 120 children, all with a physical or learning disability, Phil Pemble and Phil Blunden concluded after their visit that a donation of £11,000 would plug the gap and allow the school to benefit from being to access additional funding to allow the building of a vocational training centre. The head teacher's bid for specialist status was so strong that the minister granted this on the proviso that the funds were put back in place and thanks to Spoon, this will now become reality.
