 On the 3rd of February, the curtain raiser is the 5th Park Parker Cup match between the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. This match was born late one night in the recesses of a Stockbridge hostelry. Buoyed up by the local libations, two survivors of the Hong Kong Colony and Men of East sides, Messrs Ken Park (Edinburgh) and Mike Parker (England ), seized upon the idea for this annual festival of rugby. It has been a closely contested series so far. Scores are tied with two wins apiece for each of the colleges; so there is all to play on the day.

For the last three years the surgeon’s intercollegiate rugby game has been held in support of Wooden Spoon and has raisied over £15,000 so far. Come along and watch the game that kicks off at London Welsh at noon before heading to Twickenham to watch the Calcutta Cup. Or alternatively, enjoy the hospitality at Old Deer park and watch the England v Scotland game on the big screems. Enttrance fee is £5 and all proceeds go to Spoon.
 On the the next day, Sunday the 4th, show your spirit by coming to Richmond Rugby Club to watch Wooden Spoon's own rugby team, the SpoonAAs play in their first fixture of 2007. SpoonAAs played a Richmond XV last year and were well and truly walloped....and will be looking for revenge this year! The game kicks off at 2:30pm and is great pre-match entertainment before the Wales versus Ireland match later that day.
