.jpg) Wooden Spoon (with Woody their mascot - pictured above) and Saints were celebrating the Wooden Spoon Mascot Challenge bringing rugby to schools in the region, who may not have the opportunity to enjoy rugby before. Last season Saints players visited a number of schools to provide support and coaching and some of those schools were represented at the game.
Other local schools have also been helping raise funds too in the region including Wellingborough School, who raised money from their 125th anniversary celebration and Northampton Boys School who held a fundraising week in December at their school. Northampton Boys School alongside Friars Special School in Wellingborough, who will benefit from funding for much needed equipment, were presented with giant Wooden Spoons signed by the Saints Players for their schools at half time (pictured).
Volunteers manned the Spoon marquee at the game and after a sterling effort selling Wooden Spoon merchandise, raised over £300 on the day…..and Saints won too!
