The home team had too much in their armory for a resilient but weakened SpoonAAs team and eventually went down by six tries to three as darkness fell.

SpoonAAs had ten late cry-offs and it was testimony to the efforts of Jason Ashcroft and Jai Purewal the match managers, who led by example both on and off the pitch, that the game managed to take place. Similar to England in there match against the Kiwis played at the same time, the SpoonAAs collected the Wooden Spoon on this occasion.

Credit must go to Novaportans who defended well and just had a little more gas in their tank than the SpoonAAs to seal the win with some well executed tries.
