| The sensory garden is a shared facility for the three separate “houses” that make up the Children’s Centre close to the centre of Rotherham. The centre offers respite care for children with physical disabilities and learning difficulties as well as providing an outreach facility for special needs children.
Judy Worrall, Centre Manager for one of the three houses welcomed a large gathering of children, parents, carers and local authority staff to the new Sensory Garden. Judy thanked Wooden Spoon and their supporters for generously providing £42,000 towards the cost of the garden. Richard Smith, Chairman of the Yorkshire committee, seen int the photograph above with Mich Dearman, also of Spoon, responded on behalf of the charity and thanked Chris Chittell for formally opening the new garden and for being such a great supporter of the charity. In fact, this is the fourth time Chris has given up his time for an opening or a hand-over ceremony for a Spoon project.
