Putting out for Spoon
A strong attendance at Five Lakes Golf and Country Club and a very generous sponsorship by Graham Lintott (Magnus Vauxhall of Brook St, Brentwood), enabled Spoon Essex to raise £5800 towards their next project. When matched by central funds this will contribute over 20% of our commitment to our next project -PARC in Braintree.

A strong attendance at Five Lakes Golf and Country Club and a very generous sponsorship by Graham Lintott (Magnus Vauxhall of Brook St, Brentwood), enabled Spoon to raise £5800 towards their next project. When matched by central funds this will contribute over 20% of our commitment to our next project -PARC in Braintree.

The considerable sum raised was also due in no small part to an address by Georgina Rhymes, Business Development Manager of the PARC Play and Resource Centre and a parent who uses these invaluable facilities. Georgina explained the service  which PARC provides to disadvantaged children and brought a lump to many throats as she spoke. Her address made all present realise what these days are all about and without exception everyone felt proud to be associated with the Charity and its objectives, which had earlier been very effectively set out by that good looking Mike Francis of Stradbrooke Marketing –no wonder he gets those gorgeous girls working for him!!! .

Over 100 golfers vied for some magnificent prizes, again donated by Magnus Vauxhall of Brentwood. Maybe uniquely, our Sponsor , whilst the Stradbrooke Ladies were spinning their not inconsiderable persuasive charms on non-members to join Spoon, offered to pay for all first year subscriptions of those joining on the night. How surprising that we had a record number of new members – we sincerely hope that all of these this will generate a permanent income stream to Spoon in the future.
Mike Taylor took the individual honours with a well deserved ridiculous score playing off  8 and led his team to victory and a date at Belton Woods.

We were delighted to welcome Gerrards Stockbrokers, who once again generously contributed to the day both in physical and pecuniary support.

We were very pleased to have a team entered from Saracens Rugby Club, led by our newly appointed Joint Honorary President Kris Chesney. Thank you Kris for your support, and that of your Club, on the day and we look forward to seeing you on many occasions in the future.

Finally thanks go to Michael Stiers, our very professional and very entertaining auctioneer – who now has part of his future retirement time earmarked for such events, and to John Dilley, our Chairman who organised a very successful and fun day in his usual quietly efficient manner and of course once again  to Graham Lintott and Magnus.
