This was our third golf day and was played in glorious sunshine at Whittlebury. Sixteen corporate teams entered, with the 9 hole warm up pairs competition in the morning being won by Keith Ivory and John Huthwaite, as seen here on the left. The nearest the Pin was won by Jim Shields and Longest Drive by Steve Smith. The afternoon Wooden Spoon Classic was won by Fred Mercer, Ray Gace, Bob Wiles and Graham Anderson, as seen in the photography above, who now go forward to the Wooden Spoon Final at Belton Woods. We in wish them lots of luck representing the region.
A hundred people attended the dinner afterwards which was hosted by Martin Bayfield, Regional Honorary President and Mickey Gunn comedian rounded the evening off. The whole day was again sponsored by McCue Corporation and our thanks go to Robert Davidson, managing director and his team for their continued support. Most importantly, we raised £4500 from the day which with match funding means we raise £9000 for local disadvantaged children, more than double last year’s event. This figure was helped by Lucy Badham who successfully bid for the signed Northampton Saints Rugby Ball for her young son, as seen here. In total we will have now raised £33,000 for disadvantaged youngsters in Northants and North Bucks.
