| Hertfordshire Region Gets Swinging at Royston Golf Club! |

| Royston Golf Club hosted their 4th Wooden Spoon Golfing Event on May 17th 2006. Over £3,000 was raised for the Wooden Spoon Charity, for the benefit of local disadvantaged children. One of their recent local projects was the renovation of a wing at Meldreth Manor, near Royston, a college for children suffering from the effects of cerebral palsy, costing £32,000 which opened in 2005. |

John Nicholl, Wooden Spoon Committee member and past Captain of Royston Golf Club is pictured with the President, Captain and past Captains of Royston Golf Club, who all continue to support support the event. Also playing were the Captains of the Ladies and Seniors sections of the Club together with past captains from both sections. 22 teams of 4 played in the competition, which was won by Philip and Simon Marchant, Sam Parrett and Kevin Hempson, from Haverhill with a score of 88 points, who go forward to the Regional Finals of International Pairs at Belton Woods on September 29th, and then hopefully qualify for the Finals at the St Andrews Bay Club in Scotland.
