Sportsman's Dinner
On Thursday 26th January, the Surrey region held one of the most successful ever Sportsman’s Dinners at the RAC at Woodcote Park. Some 220 gentlemen and ladies were privileged to take part in a question and answer session with Jason Leonard OBE and our president John Inverdale.

We now know who is his least favourite player, who is his most admired opponent, and what he thinks about tight fitting rugby shirts!! A real rugby legend gave us all a wonderful evening and John Inverdale brought out memories that even Jason might have forgotten – thank you, John!

An auction of various items (including an England shirt fully signed by all the World Cup winning team – what a wonderful memory!) together with a very generously supported raffle contributed further funds and financially the evening raised in the order of £5,000 for the charity. This, of course, enables us to spend twice that amount towards a project in Surrey to help disadvantaged children – what a splendid outcome for such an enjoyable evening.

To cap it all, over 40 new members were signed up by the team from Stradbrooke – well done, girls! Thank you to everyone who came and supported us – see you next year on 25th January 2007!!
