The Wooden Spoon was born 22 years ago and Peter Scott, one of the founders, attended with his wife Sheila.  150 people gathered to enjoy a fun packed evening along with Pete Cross the ‘England Rugby Mascot’ and Pete Drewett the England under 21 rugby coach.  Everyone was extremely supportive of Paul Jewels who has recently himself undergone intense chemotherapy.

Paul is an amazing positive person who has shown great courage during his illness and has worked tirelessly on behalf of Wooden Spoon to pull the dinner together.  He has tremendous support from his family and friends who have continually been by his side in his objective to raise this fantastic amount of money for the Wooden Spoon. This money will be doubled from central funds to give an amount of £76,000 to be spent in Devon.

In the 5 years Devon has been a Wooden Spoon region we have funded 10 very important investments in critical needs for children of our County to the value of £340,000. Last year in the charity’s 21st year of existence we in Devon ran 21 events for net funds raised of £104,000 (the funds raised locally are then doubled from central funds).
