| The opening at Rowan School was for Sensory equipment located in a dedicated 'calm room' as well as in two classrooms. The school caters for primary school children with special needs. Spoon invested £20,000. It's the first project we've done in South Yorkshire for nearly 10 years.
The opening ceremony was performed by The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Roger Davison and Chris Chittell, a.k.a. Eric Pollard of Emmerdale. The Lord Mayor cut the ribbon whilst Chris unveiled the plaque acknowledging Spoon's support. The school's Headteacher thanked Spoon for providing much needed equipment that the school would otherwise not have been able to afford.
The school was built in the 1970s and every penny allocated to the school's capital budget is required to keep the fabric of the buildings in a good state of repair. Richard Smith responded on behalf of Spoon and thanked the Head and the Governors of the school for their hospitality. Chris Chittell spent time with the children in the Calm room as well as conducting an interview with Yorkshire TV for its Calendar news programme.
