The Luncheon started with a real kick, a sparkling Taittinger Champagne Reception held in the gallery room of the very attractive Belvedere restaurant in the beautiful setting of Holland Park. The champagne was kindly sponsored by Alex Neill estate agent in Southwark. Over 100 elegant ladies and a good number of gentlemen guests attended. They included ex-Rugby International Jeff Probyn, and the Wooden Spoon Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive, Geoff Morris and Tony Richards, all of whom enjoyed an excellent three-course lunch. A fascinating presentation followed about the history of Fabergé, and the New Petersburg collection with creations designed by present members of the Fabergé Family.

London Chairman Nick Jones spoke about visiting the youth club in Southwark for which London Spoon are hoping to raise £50,000 for kitchen equipment and training, to improve the lives and skills of these very disadvantaged young people. Some amazing high value prizes, donated by a number of generous sponsors were a big attraction in the raffle. The lucky winners were presented with their prizes by Sir Ned Purvis, Chairman of Gilberts Rugby. Over £4,500 was raised towards the Southwark project, and thirteen new members joined Wooden Spoon. Sue Bancroft, the lunch organiser, thanked the team at The Belvedere and all the sponsors and supporters, for making the event so successful. The last guests left after 5pm. A great first lunch with a winning result.
