| In explaining his choice to become involved with the charity, Andy said: "Having initially worked with Suzie Haworth in trying to assist in growing the fund raising side from the Real Estate sector, I was personally impressed by the more direct action which has been taken by Wooden Spoon in using sport as a means of reinvigorating broken communities and providing a focus for young people to get a fresh start. The results are impressive and the passion and support amongst those involved with the charity is wonderful to witness."
He continued: "Since becoming Senior Partner at Strutt & Parker, I have been looking at ways in which I can unify a nation of nearly 50 offices stretching not quite from Land's End to John o' Groats but from Exeter to Inverness. Whilst we do support many charities at a local, regional and national level, I wanted to create a challenge within the offices across Strutt & Parker with a focus. Rugby and Property has got a long heritage and I know that, as a theme, it will motivate the competitive instincts between the offices and, I hope, the results will be seen in raising new monies for Wooden Spoon. This is the first time we have looked at creating a National Charity Challenge but as we move towards launching this, I hope our experience can be used as a model for the future in the same way as I know that the TNT success is used as a model for the moment. I am very much looking forward to seeing these aspirations evolve into reality over the next few months.”
We at Spoon look forward to working with Andy and the team at Strutt & Parker for years to come.
