On the spectacular day, as well as an 18 hole tournament there was a ‘Longest Drive’ and ‘Nearest The Pin’ competition, together with a ‘Gamble Hole’ where competitors could place a bet on their skill to get onto the green in one single shot from the tee.
Fourteen teams of four took part with Riskworks International taking first prize. Wooden spoons also went to the player’s who played the most golf!
The reason behind the event was to help raise funds for Wooden Spoon Manchester & Cheshire Region. Wooden Spoon is rugby's charity supporting mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children and young people.
The overall figure raised from the event going to the region is £1,200, which will be added to the money the committee have already raised in the last twelve months to donate to their next local project. Charlie Womersley, Chairman for the region says, “Taking into account the current economic climate, we would like to say a special thank you to all the teams and sponsors who supported us on our fourth annual golf day. Despite a couple of showers, a great day was had by all and more importantly funds were raised for Wooden Spoon”.
