| This season Shrewsbury celebrated the club’s Centenary by winning their league and gaining promotion to level 7 for next season. The Woodne Spoon Anti-Assassins were delighted to be invited to end the celebrations with a game against a Shrewsbury XV. The proceeds from the event were donated to the Shropshire Wooden Spoon region and chairman Glyn Dobbs was on hand to receive a cheque for £600.
Both teams played some enterprising rugby in front of a large appreciative crowd, but the SpoonAAs always had the upper hand in a game that saw them lead 21-7 at half time. In the second half Shrewsbury came back with two well taken tries, but were really no match for a much more skilful and quicker SpoonAAs team who won the match 50-21.
Whilst this game was being played in Shrewsbury, the Wooden SpoonA-As senior team were playing Middlesbrough to celebrate the opening of their new clubhouse. The A-As unbeaten record this season was kept in tact with a notable 34-17 win.

Whilst all this was happening, the Wooden Spoon Blues team were defending their title as 2008 winners of the Sunshine 7’s Tournament at East Grinstead were they were unlucky to lose a nail biting final 19-17 against the Jeddites. Once again, Sussex Wooden Spoon were the benefiting charity from this prestigious tournament.
Not to be outdone the Wooden Spoon Vets. retained their title for a second year, winning the Cheshire Vets Tournament at Chester Rugby Club.
This was probably the busiest rugby weekend in the short history of WoodenSpoonRugby. In all 84 players kindly gave of their time to represent the charity at four venues across the length and breadth of the country.

Thanks to all those who participated, helped organise teams and made arrangements etc. and the players who represented WSRugby. Everyone worked hard to create more 'awareness' and widen the 'access' to the charity.
