Warriors Welcome for Friends of Spoon
June 2009 promises to be a bumper month for rugby fans. Whilst most attention will be on the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa, England's stars of the future, England U20s are also in action in the 2009 IRB Junior World Championship in Japan.

Mark Mapletoft, England U20s Head Coach and Spoon supporter selected his 26 man squad on the back of this year's U20s 6 Nations Championship. England played their home matches at the magnificent Sixways Stadium, the home of Worcester Warriors and thanks to the continued generosity of the Premier League club, Spoon supporters, volunteers and sponsors were able to watch the live action.

Spoon were given 1000 complimentary tickets to each of the England games to allow children and their families, who had benefitted from Spoon support across Worcestershire and West Midlands to watch what was for many, their first live game let alone an International. When asked if she had enjoyed her visit to watch the rugby, 9 year old Laura from Zoe's Place Trust said, 'It's brilliant, it's really fun because we can shout as loud and as much as we like!' Ryan, aged 11 from Pens Meadow School added, 'rugby players are massive and they hit each other really hard- it's very exciting!'

Worcestershire Spoon Chairman, John Gibson said, "Wooden Spoon has long enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Worcester Warriors. We would like to thank everyone at the Club, especially Commercial Director, Kathy Leather for offering us the tickets. This is yet another example of the excellent work the club is doing in the community."
