| Teams of four played to Stableford rules with the best two scores to count. Nerves were tested as it became clear, when the final scores were revealed, that only two points separated the three winning teams.
• Taking first place to win the overall competition was King Sturge, with 83 points;
• in second place was Dainton Park Golf Club, with 82 points;
• in third place was Thompson Jenner, with 81 points.
A very close run competition!
In addition to keeping their eye on the ball players were also tested with a ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ competition. The winning players were:
• Nearest the Pin - holes 8 and 17, Richard Piller, King Sturge and Rob Foss, LloydsTSB respectively.
• Longest Drive – holes 12 and 14, Gary Hutchins, Barclays Bank and John Griener, Brunel Skips respectively.
During the presentation dinner, it was thought that there may have been some trick shots played during the day, and this may well have had something to do with Geoff Swain, ‘ World Golf Trick Champion’ who gave a demonstration to players. Thank you, Geoff for an entertaining show.
Dainton Park Golf Club was a fantastic venue that provided all the teams with an exciting day of golf and delicious food – thank you to the club for its support!
Help and support was also provided in a variety of forms by many, thanks to all of them for their continued support and commitment to the fund raising events organised by Team Devon Wooden Spoon.
