| Surrey Rugby Mini Festival at Dorking RFC on Sunday 20th April 2008
Once again, Surrey Spoon were present at what is now one of the largest single venue mini rugby festivals in the country. With over 2,000 young players competing for titles in all the different age groups, there was action all the way.
Our tent and display attracted interest from the many parents and spectators, most of whom did not appear to have any prior knowledge on Wooden Spoon, and were most impressed with what they heard! Our young ladies circulated the ground with collection buckets and our team of volunteers manned our Crazy Catch Competition for the youngsters once they had fallen out of the rugby competitions.
Rugby Clubs Golf Championship – Surrey 1st Round held at Betchworth Park GC
on 21st April 2008
Ten teams from Surrey Rugby Clubs had an enjoyable day at Betchworth with Dorking 2 Team coming out the winners by a good margin. A total of 7 teams qualified to go through to the next round. We would lie to thank all present for their generous support of the raffle, and also on the 8th hole gamble – somewhat surprisingly not one of the 40 players managed to have their drives finish on the green at this tricky little par 3!
Seeing is Believing Visit to Ridgeway Community School, Farnham on 29th February 2008
A group from a local TNT depot were shown round the facilities at this school and were very impressed by the care and attention given by the staff at the school to the large number of pupils at the school.
The outdoor play area funded some time ago by Spoon was still being put to very good use as this picture shows!
