Katie Hopkins (The Apprentice), Liz Fuller (TV presenter) and Danielle Lloyd (Model) will help officially launch the Ambassador programme on the 25th of April.

Wooden Spoon has focused on asking celebrities to donate two pledges to the Charity in order to help boost funds and expand its boundaries throughout the 25th Anniversary years. The pledges to Wooden Spoon are open to the Ambassador’s discretion and can be anything from a personal appearance, a signed piece of memorabilia, tickets to an event or show or even some expert commercial advice.

Wooden Spoon is looking to acquire a total of 75 supporters; 25 champions of industry, 25 rugby stars and 25 public figures and is well on the way to its target with 60 individuals already on board.

The range of celebrities is vast – and hopefully will grow even further. As well as Liz, Katie and Danielle from the celebrity world, Spoon has pledges from Samantha Cameron, Matt Dawson, Sir Keith Mills – and about half the England rugby squad!

Last year Wooden Spoon organised over 200 functions and events, of which a large attraction was the attendance of celebrities. Consequently it is estimated that a significant proportion of the charity’s income can be directly attributable to its celebrity support. As Spoon's events are so well attended by great names in sport, especially rugby, many people pay to attend in order to hear or meet their sporting heroes and this is, therefore, enormously valuable in terms of raising money.

Spoon has built a good, long-term relationship with these people and greatly appreciates their help with fundraising and media exposure. However, we are very conscious of not exhausting the tremendous goodwill we enjoy from celebrities who already help us. Rather than ask a lot from a few people, we are asking for very little from a lot!

The people Spoon has approached have all reacted very favourably and feel the programme is a great idea. Wooden Spoon has realised that people in the public eye get a huge number of requests and the more you ask of someone, the more likely they are to say ‘no’. But two pledges in 12 months should hopefully be acceptable and this way everyone gets to help their favourite charity and in turn Spoon gets a colossal amount of support.

Model, Danielle Lloyd said: "I was thrilled to be asked to become an ambassador for Wooden Spoon. I get a huge number of charity requests, but I jumped at the chance of working with children.  The work Spoon is doing is fantastic, and I hope to pledge as much of my time as possible to the Charity's activities and increase its profits over the coming years."

A full list of the Ambassador’s who have pledged their support for Spoon will appear on the website shortly
