Royal Opening for Legacy Rainbow House
The Legacy, the new purpose-built centre for Rainbow House in Lancashire, was honoured with a Royal Visit in the New Year.

No ALT tag specifiedThe charity is sponsored by Wooden Spoon who aasked The Princess Royal to perform the official opening of the Legacy centre for disabled children on Tuesday 8 January 2008, in the village of Mawdesley, Lancashire. Invited guests included major sponsors and supporters, colleagues from education and the health service, local government representatives, and of course the staff and children. Joe Mawdsley, Director of Services at The Legacy Rainbow House said "“We were absolutely delighted and honoured that the Princess Royal agreed to visit the centre to see for herself the unique work we are involved in.  As the Patron of the Wooden Spoon Rugby Charity, Princess Anne has a strong interest in groups which support disadvantaged children.  The Legacy Rainbow House is one of the Wooden Spoon’s charities."

No ALT tag specifiedThe Legacy Rainbow House is a small but growing charity which supports over 80 children with disabilities from across the North West of England, from Kendal to Wrexham from Burnley to Southport.  The Princess’s visit confirms that the charity is building a reputation in the UK for the value of its work.  Its ethos is based on a holistic approach to developing a child’s abilities and enabling disabled children to live more independent lives.  Rainbow House offers conductive education, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and music, drama and art therapy.  There is also a fantastic range of activities and facilities available at the centre including horse riding, a farm, small animals, a sensory play area, a sensory garden and a superb outdoor play area.  Ultimately a sports facility is planned to be funded by the charity’s partnership with Manchester United.
