The Bridge House School was a £34,000 project sponsored by Shropshire Spoon. The award was made to Bridge House School in Telford by BECTA (British Education in Computer and Technology Association) during a Seeing is Believing visit with Spoon's largest corporate sponsor, TNT. The award was gained against stiff competition across the United Kingdom. Instrumental in this achievement was the use of the wonderful music/communication equipment purchased for the school by the ‘Wooden Spoon’.  Having been presented with the equipment the school invested in training staff on how to use it within the context of the classroom.  Its use is now a routine part of learning experiences for all of the school's pupils.

Una van-den-Berg, Headteacher of the Bridge School said on gaining the award, “I can’t begin to describe how important technology is for us here at The Bridge.  Our pupils have profound learning disabilities, and in the last few years technology has opened our visions for them which have been remarkable.  Its use to engage children is outstanding – its bought learning alive because it’s so engaging for them.  Technology has had a profound effect on our ability to make learning a personal experience for each one of our pupils. It is thanks to the generosity of people like the Wooden Spoon that we can access such high quality equipment."
