The dinner at the Cheltenham and Gloucester Chase Hotel, raised over £12,000 for the Alderman Knight School in Tewkesbury.  It was sponsored by the developers of Gloucester Business Park, Goodman International Ltd. The Alderman Knight School is the 2007 chosen cause for the Gloucestershire branch of the Wooden Spoon.  The school aims to raise £70,000 for the school during the year so that they can build a new multi-use games area for the children to enjoy.

At the dinner Spoon held an auction, which included top selling lots of a signed England rugby shirt and a golf flag signed by Padraig Harrington, winner of the 2007 Open Championship.  Hazlewoods LLP also donated a cheque for £6,400 to the Wooden Spoon Gloucestershre, which has been matched by Wooden Spoon centrally meaning through Hazlewoods’ efforts a further £12,000 will go towards local causes.  Graeme Fowler (Foxy Fowler), former England cricketer, was the main speaker at the meal.

Tim Heal, organiser of the evening, commented: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s fundraising dinner.  Our guests gave very generously to support Alderman Knight School, putting us firmly on track to raise the money needed for a new games area.”
