| The event was a great success with the 115 persons attending raised £2200 for Spoon. Bowood Partners Ltd – Lloyd’s Insurance and Reinsurance brokers were the main Club Sponsors that day and Spoon are very grateful for their contribution to the lunch. Thanks also go to Cambridge, Rochford and Westcliff Rugby Clubs for their support and , as ever , to the Stradbrook Girls for their usual charm and efficiency in signing new Members. Once again, many thanks are due to Southend RFC for hosting this event.
Southend also recently hosted their annual City Supper. Guest of honour was Tim Stimpson who was, amongst others, instrumental in raising £850 for Spoon and £500 for Cancer Relief.
There was an interesting “Grace” prior to the VP lunch, which was remembered as:

SO TO HELP THOSE LESS FORTUNATE WE’RE HERE TO HAVE FUN
BUT REMEMBER, THEIR PROBLEMS CONTINUE WHEN THIS GAME IS DONE
