36 teams of XV competed in this competition which was run for the eleventh year and has grown into a major national rugby event which has been granted “national” status by the RFU last year. Bob Taylor, President of the RFU, presented the Cronk Cunis cup to William Soutar, captain of the winning Tonbridge team (seen at left) and paid tribute to the important role played by the festival in ensuring players are not lost to the game and forming an effective bridge between school and club rugby. He said “The festival is clearly a great encouragement for old boys to continue playing when they leave school. It does seem an ideal way of giving them that extra push to remain involved”.
Surrey Spoon was pleased to have the opportunity of setting up their display on the day and promoting the charity of British rugby to those of a younger age at the Festival.
