Leicestershire Spoon decided to celebrate the World Cup by hiring a room in the Time Bar in Leicester, for the crunch game in the Pool Game for England on September 14. The committee had organised something similar to this event two years ago for the England v Wales Six Nations tournament. It was a successful venture and therefore worthy of a repeat performance. The committee hired a room with a big screen to watch the match. A welcome drink and chili was included for all guests. Bray and Bray sponsored the event and 80 tickets were sold in total. The bar opened at 6-m and the game kicked off at 8pm. Although the match was a disaster for England, a good time was had by all at this Leicestershire Spoon event. With raffle tickets sold at half time with a net profit of over a £1000 was made on the night. The event was such a success, the committee will have a repeat performance for the Six Nations tournament in 2008.
On a separate note, Leicestershire Spoon's assocation with the Leicester Tigers meant that Community Officer Scott Clarke got involved with the schools in Leicestershire and encouraged them to get involved with Get Shirty day, the day when employees get to wear their favourite rugby shirt to work for a nominal donation to Spoon.
Just under £1000, was sent to the Spoon central office to help stir smiles.
