Harlequins are delighted to announce that they have chosen the Wooden Spoon to be their designated charity over the 2007/08 season. Established in 1866, Harlequin Football Club is probably the best-known Rugby Union Club in the world. A founder member of the RFU and laying in the renowned multicoloured shirt, Quins are synonymous with quality, class and style, summed up by the clubs adage: “When you play, play with style”. Quins’ famous home, the Twickenham Stoop, forms part of the club’s heritage and tradition and indeed has been home to some of the most famous names in world rugby. Players such as Peter Winterbottom, Will Carling, Paul Ackford, David Loveridge, Andy Haden, Simon Halliday, Lauren Cabannes, Mickey Skinner, Brian Moore, Andy Harriman, Jason Leonard, Keith Wood, Zinzan Brooke, David Wilson and Will Greenwood to name but a few.

Harlequins Chief Executive, Mark Evans said: "We are delighted to be supporting the main charity of rugby and look forward to developing a good working relationship with them over the next year, when we hope to help raise a significant amount of money for the worthwhile causes they support." Gordon Brown, Wooden Spoon's voluntary Chairman of the Middlesex Region, said: "We are delighted to be appointed Quins official charity for this Season as we enter our 25th year of supporting disadvantaged children. All funds raised through Quins events and endeavours will be spent locally on projects to 'stir smiles' for disadvantaged children throughout Middlesex and surrounds."
