| Sheffield and District Golf Day |
| Bill Reichwald masterminded another successful golf day at Sickleholme Golf Club on Friday 14th September. |

| The sun shone as the first of thirty-two teams headed up the first fairway shortly after 9.00am. The 128 golfers all enjoyed a glass of champagne at the first tee before tackling the mature course set in a beautiful part of the Peak District. The last golfers got back in just after 6.30pm. The Stableford competition was won by the June Burnett team made up of local players and Sickleholme club members. The event was generously sponsored by Henry Boot Construction (see photograph above). The club provided an excellent three course meal on a “rolling buffet” basis. After the auction and prize-giving guests were able to watch the England v South Africa game on a big screen – the only aspect of the day that didn’t go according to plan, except for one notable exception who was delighted at the Boks triumph! With the benefit of a successful auction, raffle and gamble hole together with the generous sponsorship of Henry Boot Construction, the event should raise just short of £7,000 for Spoon. |
