On Wednesday 20th June, the sun shone as the Suffolk Committee of Wooden Spoon held its Ladies Summer Lunch at the home of Mr and Mrs Patrick Hopkinson. Over 50 people attended the event to raise money for the Suffolk region of Wooden Spoon.
Guests enjoyed a delicious al fresco lunch with fine wine, and were able to browse amongst the stalls participating in the event. These included designer wear, jewellery, soft furnishings, silk flowers and many other luxury goods.
The lunch was a great success and raised over £2,000. The money will go towards the new Health & Well Being Centre which is being built at the Priory School in Bury St Edmunds.
This Centre will be open to all disadvantaged children in Suffolk. Special thanks must go to Mr and Mrs Patrick Hopkinson for hosting the event, to Matt Gilson of Waitrose for supplying all the ingredients for the main course.
Thanks also to to Linda Alexander of Sainsburys for the Strawberries and Cream, to Simon Thomas of Tescos for supplying all the drink and to Mrs Nettie Poskett for the delicious homemade cup cakes.
