125 golfers braved some fairly indifferent weather, but scored well on a superbly presented course. Spoon would particularly wish to thank the proprietors and staff for their efficient and pleasant contribution to the day. The winning team (seen above) go on to play in the Regional Final at Marriott St Pierre, Chepstow. The team was made up of Dave Curran, Len Smith, Bill Rabbitte and Stuart Curran of Ilford Golf Club with a score of 94 pts. Stuart Curran. Playing off 12(9) was the individual winner of the Claret Jug with 41 pts.

Most importantly every player had an enjoyable day and contributed in raising £6000 for our Charity. For the second year we are most grateful to our sponsors, Magnus Motors in Brentwood, by courtesy of  Graham Lintott, for their most generous financial and logistic support. A new initiative this year produced excellent income for Spoon. Graham Lintott wrote to all 42 golf clubs in Essex asking them to donate a round of golf for 4 people. 17 clubs responded and £1500 was raised by auction from these items. Our thanks go to Michael Stiers, our amusing and effective auctioneer turned golfer!; to Colin Ash, our MC; and to John Dilley for organising his seventh superb day. No John , there is no way you can retire!!
