The Kent region of Spoon held a very successful golf tournament on Friday, the 15th of June at The Wildernesse Club, having great fun and raising just over £9,400 in the process for disadvantaged children in the Kent area. All in all 124 golfers participated, enjoying the good weather and fine course. Philip Connon even managed the holy grail of golfing, a hole-in-one on the 10th! In attendance was also, John Salako, ex-Crystal Palace & England footballer, who came from Clydesdale Bank, one of the event sponsors.
An additional 33 people came for the celebratory dinner in the evening, taking the total to 157 people who came to support Spoon. The guest speaker was Russ Williams who is the current chairman of the Comedian's Golf society.
He was a big hit with the audience, and the Kent Committee are already planning next year's event on June 20th, 2008. If you enjoyed this year's golf day and dinner, mark your calendars for next year's golf date!
