| SpoonAAs Reap Revenge on Richmond |
|
| The game against Richmond in February was deemed as a revenge match for the thumping loss incurred by a very strong Richmond team in the same fixture last year. This time the scores were reversed and the SPoonAAs came out on top 41-12. |

The SpoonAAs team of 27 players was a great turnout and was a good mix of mature talent and raw young power. The team comprised many former team mates from London Welsh as well as several players who have already played together in the SpoonAAs sides. This playing knowledge showed up instantly when the team strung together some great passes and created gaps for winger Mike Causer to race through for the first try. The tries kept coming and by half time the score had reached 22-0 to the SpoonAAs.
The Richmond boys could have put their heads down and capitulated at this point, especially after the SpoonAAs had increased their lead by two more tries straight after the restart. But determined not to be completely trounced and possibly because the SpoonAAs fielded an almost completely new side in the second half, Richmond came back fighting, making for an exciting last 30 minutes.
In total the enthusiastic spectators (including one Jason Leonard), were treated to a total of nine tries and a final scoreline of 41-12. A great way to start the year for Spoon rugby. |
